Monsters with Scissors

CASE OF THE SHORN TOMATO PLANT

At an unknown time on Wednesday in Pasadena, CA, a tomato plant was attacked and shorn of most of its greenery. The denuded plant was discovered that evening when the owner went onto her patio to water her plants. No witnesses were immediately forthcoming and further investigation was postponed until the morning, as it was bedtime when this was discovered.

Questioning was further delayed when one of the prime suspects had to leave early for his first day of school. The other main suspect denied any fault and even suggested that the plant hurt itself. The plant was examined and given what treatment was possible. Warnings were given to those near the plant to not disturb it or other plants near it on penalty of timeouts and no desserts. The plant has so far been left undisturbed.

The tomato plant in question had already sustained damage earlier in the season when one of the suspects had hacked several branches off with a sword he had obtained while visiting Disneyland. The reason the suspect gave for such actions was that the plant attacked first.

On Saturday afternoon, a more informal investigation was conducted during lunch. Investigators started by sharing a couple of facts like "The leaves look like they were individually plucked off" and "The tomatoes were thankfully left behind." The youngest, and most likely suspect, responded that "scissors were take out dere and dey went snip, snip, snip!" Since no mention of a specific instrument had been, as yet, made, this drew further suspicion upon the suspect. Further questioning led to the following discussion seen in this video clip:

Investigation is being made into the claims of monsters and aliens perpetrating the act. All scissors have been found and locked up. The prime suspects have been warned not to leave town and are still under suspicion. Judgement has been suspended until investigators can quit laughing their heads off.

Not that hard since this isn't that unusual. My boys have fantastic imaginations! Oh, and we'd already been talking for a few minutes before I realized I should be capturing it.

Hey Apey - too funny! I read and showed it to Paul and we both got a pretty good laugh out of it. How is the hapless victim doing?
