Madame Butterfly

For an early birthday present, Aaron took me to Madame Butterfly last night. We went with a group of friends from Aaron's lab and we really enjoyed it. I hadn't ever been to a real opera before and it was a great experience. I like most of Puccini's work and Butterfly's aria is incredible!

This was a Robert Wilson production, which means there wasn't a lot of movement by the actors and sets were very minimalist, but beautiful. It focused your attention on the music instead of the singers surroundings. Here's the link for a few pictures of the production. This is exactly how it looks.

It was great to get out and do something with more culture than dinner and a movie :)
