Stuck in an Elevator

Yesterday afternoon, I happily left my apartment to go pick Samuel up from school. With a sleeping Adam in my arms, I got into the newly fixed elevator (it had been broken for 2 1/2 months, but that's another story), and I thought I was on my way to our car. Our elevator had different ideas. Thankfully, it isn't a homicidal machine like Stephen King's Christine, but rather, a stupid one. It just went up and down repeatedly without opening its doors. Also thankfully, our manager was in the building and heard the elevator alarm I set off and called for help. She called the elevator service company and their guy was still close by and turned around. Another helpful person in the building called the fire department and they got there first.

So, after twenty-five minutes, we got out OK, Adam got to meet three firefighters, got a sticker from them and I was quickly on my way to pick up Samuel. While stuck in the elevator, I had called my friend Annie (more thanks for the invention of the cell phone) and she went to pick Samuel up for me.

Annie went to the front of the school, where he should have been, and I drove up the back and around the side to meet them up front. To my surprise, I see Samuel walking by himself and there's no sign of Annie. He gets in the car and eventually we do meet up with Annie, who was frantically searching for Samuel and let her know all is well. Samuel would not agree that all is well as he is being punished for walking off by himself. There are teachers waiting with the kids who are waiting to be picked up, but he got by them. Sigh.

lol! If I could have predicted anyone I know to get stuck in an elevator it would have been you! :-) Sorry you had a crazy day, and I'm glad that everything turned out ok.
