Our Garden

Nearly every year while growing up, we had a garden. It was lots of hard work , but it produced yummy food that we all loved to eat. This year I thought it would be fun to do one with the boys. They like plants and Samuel actually asked to have one! So here we are! Well, calling our pots a garden is stretching it a bit, but you do what you can with only a cement patio and no dirt. We have bell pepper, tomato, and squash plants. The tomato plant is doing the best so far. It's gotten very tall and is still growing. It's only produced a couple of little tomatoes so far, but I think once it's finished growing, it'll produce well. The pepper plant looks like it will do great, too. I don't know how the squash will do. I don't know if it's even possible for it to grow well in a pot.

The boys love to water the plants and I have to make sure they don't get over watered. We ate the little tomatoes that first appeared and they were yummy! It's a "Sweet 100's" plant, which means it only produces little cherry tomatoes (that I love, love, love!).

Just a tip for the squash if you did not already know - if you grow it up a lattice out of you pot it will do very well. That way it has lots of room to grow up. That is how my mother in law grows hers here in texas.

You are doing better on your garden than on mine! :-) Our rototiller broke, so needless to say, our garden did not go in this year. :-( Sniff

P.S. Ha ha! How is this for fun - the first three letters of my word verification are: CRY
